Béarnaise was originally created in France in 1836. It was made for the opening of the restaurant Le Pavillion Henri IV outside of Paris. The chef wanted to create a new sauce to honor the French renaissance king Henri IV. As the king came from a area called Béarn, the chef named it “la sauce béarnaise”. The sauce has been a success ever since that day, with its rich and delicious taste.

A classic béarnaise is made from butter, eggs, herbs and spices. We make our béarnaise with fresh pasteurized egg and canola oil, which allows our product to be dairy free.
